Hi Shelly:

I, too, was affected by the post in question. You and I (similar to Scott) disagree on virtually every point in question, but I’m given to understand that you have been led from pillar to post as far as being edited/censored/removed at the hands of previous Internet outlets is concerned. That does neither political discourse nor our nation a favor. Countless citizens have died defending freedom of expression, and it’s disquieting to hear that liberty curtailed…regardless of reasons why– in the absence of death threats or other immediate dangers.
I think it’s fair to offer at this point that we can look forward to little but an alternatively articulated Civil War if the manichean, good vs. evil dynamic isn’t rephrased with a common love for the nation as its denominator. It’d be great simply debate the points in question: rationally, methodically, with mutually-vetted facts as the foundational principle.

Hi Shelly,

I watched your video (there was a link to it in the comments of the Colbert Report on Hulu), and honestly at first I was cracking up and if I’m honest, it was a laughing “at” situation – I apologize for that act of smallness on my part.

Like Scott above, I disagree with nearly almost everything you said – I am “left of left”!

However, I was really moved by your views about President Obama’s birth certificate, birth place, religion, etc… It’s really a shame that these issues were brought up in the first place but the fact that people are so vehement about some clearly false information 4 years later, makes it nearly impossible to have a dialogue with people we disagree with.

So, while I disagree with nearly everything you believe in, I appreciate that your beliefs are not anchored in the ridiculous.

Sorry to contact you this way, but it seemed the best option for a variety of reasons. Anyway, I watched your video “Obama Was Re-Elected – I’m pissed” and I’ve been thinking about it all day. To be up front, I’m way left of center (I think Obama is a centrist) but I really appreciated your video. It frightened me at first, and I disagree with you on probably everything, but it touched me nonetheless. It actually made me feel bad for voting for Obama to see how much anger it causes you! I know that kind of anger. I appreciate your passion and the fact that you were able to still remain articulate throughout. Since you made the video and your twitter private, I imagine you’ve been getting a lot of shit from liberals. I don’t know, I just wanted to reach out for some reason and wish you the best even though we completely disagree. I’m gonna go have a smoke now.
